Hey Hj326 ! Thanks for your review !

I will make you my review about Orbit when I will found how to pass the 1st top laser, ahah ! :)

Power Shift use cool mecanism, I love idea that a part run only when you rotate with powerup.
I don't understand what's th final part, because I can pass it with Spike powerups : is this your bug ?

Generaly, you make greats mechanism on your level ! :)

I can definitely tell it's a much better attempt to not only make a level of great gameplay value, but looks graphically nicer as well. Keep it up! :)

On to the gameplay itself...overall it's a good proof of concept of using powerups to trigger environmental changes. But unlike Orbit, you need to go into the particle trigger area to "transfer" the powerup effects to the environment, and then the powerup effects on the clone suddenly wears off. Personally, it feels less natural than Orbit, where getting the powerup IMMEDIATELY triggers the environmental change (or in Orbit's case, the system's change). I also dislike levels that clearly shows the occurance of the event "Clear item effects" - this also explains one of the things I disliked about The Metalparke (other than the fact that level is also a very doomsday level ).

I liked the way the block got stuck to the rail after you get the sticky powerup. The idea to increase the friction on the rail to achieve this was really clever. :)

The spinning laser turret was ok for me, no complaints whatsoever. It was sort of expected, per say, based on the level's concept.

The first part where the block suddenly reduces in size, you could make it a bit more organic, just like the way Clony shrinks when he gets a Small powerup.

The part where you must navigate the saw portion with one size bigger, you might want to increase the clearance between the saws and also put the first saw slightly more to the right to allow more clearance to ascend. Many people aren't very good at handling bigger than normal sized clones; even us avid clone savers may not be exactly that good at handling them too - you see, we find all the ways in the world to get EVEN SMALLER. I would like to think that us clone savers are experts in clone fleet shaping (and powerup dodging too), as in handling large volumes of miniature clones.

Please forgive me if I sound critical when I'm giving my opinion on the whole gameplay concept - it's what I truly feel and I see us as a community in helping each other on how to make better and better levels, just like Vicvic advising me on nerfing my level's difficulty. :)

Oh, that's weird, but I didn't seem to observe any graphical glitches in POWER SHIFT. Can you direct me to where it is?

All you need to do is to get a Sticky powerup and go to one of the particle trigger zones before the block comes crashing down. It doesn't matter if the powerup effect isn't cleared...anyway it's the last part already.

If this is the graphical bug, then the problem is because the event "Clear item effects" isn't even connected to the chain; there's no events forwarding the signal to it.

If not, that's weird because there's no other bugs I could see.

How do I make it look more organic? I know what you're talking about, but I don't know how to do it. The bug is that even by clearing the sticky powerup, you still LOOK sticky, even though you really aren't. I will definitely shrink the saws a little bit. And fon't worry: constructive criticism is one of the best ways to improve. I'm not mad at all for you sharing your opinion; I actually really appreciate it.
Anyways, Vivic: the trick is to bring the orb containing you really close to the button on the front side of the first laser, and let the other orb hit the button, because you can't actually go backwards through a laser. I use this idea in a few other places in ORBIT.
Also, is the disable disconnected? I could have sworn I double checked the connection.

It's quite a simple trick actually. All you need to do is to activate a variable that changes. Then connect the scale event to the variable. Remember to leave the scale event active, but turn off "Require Signal", which makes the scale event always active.

Couldn't help but feel like I'm just trying to bash down your level on the mechanics when I read back what I wrote. Furthermore, it's something fundamental to the level. If someone wrote like that to me, personally I might feel quite hurt initially, although I would later try to understand the writer's genuine (?) intentions.

At least, when I opened up the editor on my end, there wasn't any connection to the "Clear item effects" event. Here's the screenshot of what I see. Oh, and the logic of how to set up the organic shrinking is also there. :) image.jpg

Really, don't worry about it. You're allowed to have an opinion. Also, thanks for showing me how to do that.

So my everyplay name just got screwed up. It's now WellyPossum46. However, all my videos are still there, so I'm not complaining. Also, you should check out the newest one. DIVISION is sort of broken.

Nicely made level, as usual! Just a slight pity that this level is a speedrun level; there wasn't much time to admire the details!

This level is reminiscent of Flamingjazz's WAR. The shooting out of saws & the time slowdowns; did you get your inspiration from that level?

I saved 14 clones first time, replayed it a bit more and got 25 clones! How the heck did you even get 80+ clones? o_O

Okok. Sorry for that, but there is secrets on Premonition too ! :)

It's like in Mario Kart, you can choose the difficulty of the trip !

. 3 speed powerups = doomsday mode, horrible to survive in that !
. 2 speed powerups = normal mode, more time to collect the powerups and avoid the traps
. 1 speed powerup = secret mode, where you can activate those secrets to get much more clones :)

A new update of my level, ARMED has just dropped! :)

This update adds a new zone: Gamer's Haven! Consisting of 2 casino machines and...the classy Space Invaders! Not quite the same as Frogmind's one, though.

    Many other changes specified below:

Zone 1 - Squared Clones has a small change: It's just the collision sound with the squared clones has been changed from Metal to Wood, to make it sound a little more realistic. :)

Zone 2 - Spikes has undergone its most major graphical overhaul yet! However, this also increases the difficulty of this zone by a notch.

Zone 5 - Laboratory also has graphical changes to make it look a little more like a laboratory. Inserting the arm may now be slightly easier; use the graph monitor screen to aid the arm insertion. However, it may also be slightly more difficult due to less space to negotiate when getting out after inserting the arm.

Zone 6 - Saws adds 2 more saws - Difficulty is not affected, though.

Zone 7 - Geared systems sees the piston door upgraded to look like the ones used by Bones and Ice.

Zone 8 - Construction sees another major graphical overhaul: The initial stretch has been graphically enhanced, finally adding detail to a once blank stretch. This also makes it easier to orientate the armed system. Somewhat.
Also, the lasers in the initial stretch also gives you a warm welcome . Oh, and there's actually one more laser in each set, top and bottom. There's little danger of the lasers burning your arms, so no difficulty increase. The gravity well (as Vicvic calls it ) part sees an overhead pump being added. It will "squeeze" out the 4 tiny rocks after Clony reaches the bottom of the pit. Dwindle too long and the pump will go berserk; beware the deadly falling rocks! (The gravity well will switch off, though) This also fixes the crash associated with camera kill; I theorise that it was the gravity well that caused this problem.

Zone 10 - Hamsters' Peaceful World adds an attempted fix for the time speed problem after exiting Zone 9 - Revolution Arena by adjusting the time factor to 1.0.
Most importantly, Zone 10 is now split into 2, making it a little less "doomsday". Both Zone 10 and Zone 11 - Hamster Faction War sees graphical upgrades, to better blend the mechanical elements into nature.
The sequence of events is altered, so now you can see the lasers destroying the obstructing spikeballs. New grahical elements are introduced, namely the 2 large eggs added, smoke after they are downed (assumed after the hamsters set off an explosive charge underneath them), and particles indicating an "armed" hamster ball ready to activate the lasers to destroy the spikeballs.

Zone 12 - Laser Swing has a minor graphical change to better achieve symmetry of the slide, in terms of the overhead ceiling. Also, the button which releases the Small powerups is now converted into a secret; putting in an arm inside there will unveil the secret much like how Bones and Ice reveals the powerups in Tenth Vertigo. The released powerups still do nothing, but in the upcoming ending to Zone 13, the released powerups will appear if you triggered them.

And Zone 13 - Gamer's Haven is added...some very unique logic systems are being used at the Casino area - check it out if you are curious how they work!

Bumped my score all the way up from previously 48 to an astounding 71! And I see more clones coming in...

There's no secret to it, just pure skill. Especially in the first part.

So I have a cool idea for a really interesting clone-saving level with another mechanic, but I can't quite get it working. I want a system that can solve for the number of current clones active, and then throw that number as the size of a bunch of saws. I have what I think SHOULD work in a published level, "Logic test". I'd appreciate it if anyone could take a look at what I have and help me get it working. Also, Vivic, would this level be eligible for your contest if I threw in the hexagons?

    Hey Hj326,

I just tested it, but the logic doesn't work...

But no fear! I just helped you by publishing another level named "Organic resizing".

It works quite well, and the saws also increase in size organically, albeit it increases a little beyond intended size for a split second. I thought this is ok, perhaps for a little unexpected surprise.
